AMAZING!

I love that Stephen King tries different forms of media and I was surprised when I saw this book as a pop-up! I loved the book so thought I'd take a look. The detail of it is truly amazing. It's definitely an abridged version of the story, but it tells the story and the artwork and details make it fun. Love it!

Unique collector's item for the avid King fan

I actually haven't read this book yet -- I purchased it for a friend, who's an avid Stephen King fan and would appreciate the novelty of a Stephen King pop-up book. I feel compelled to give a few words of warning to those who are considering purchasing this item.
First of all -- this is NOT a children's book. I know that's stating the obvious, seeing as it's a Stephen King work, but just as people tend to automatically assume that any animated movie is fit for children (which results in kids seeing non-child-friendly films such as "Heavy Metal" and "Grave of the Fireflies"), people also assume that any pop-up book is a children's book. "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon," though it features a child protagonist, is most definitely not fit for children, as it's a horror tale meant for adults. Also, young children might tear or damage this book if left unattended with it.
Second of all -- this book does NOT contain the full text of the original novel. It's an abridged version -- even though I haven't read the full novel yet (though I've skimmed parts of it), even I could tell that this is mostly an outline of the original book. It's probably best as a supplement to the actual novel, something to accompany it rather than replace it.
All that said, however, this really is a fun and novel item, especially for a King enthusiast. It has all sorts of neat foldouts and hidden elements, so even those familiar with the original story are sure to find something to delight in. And it's fairly sturdily built for a pop-up book, which means that it will last a long time in your collection provided you don't let the kids have a turn with it.
My friend was quite delighted with this book, and I think anyone who's a King fan will appreciate it very much.

Wonderful Rendition

I thoroughly enjoyed the book when it first came out in print. Stephen King is one of my few favorite and reliable authors. I also have a weakness for popup books. This one is completely delightful while staying true to the original story. The scenes are well constructed and entertaining. They also easily fold back down as the page is turned... a key element in being pleased with a popup book. I don't think there were many of these made. So I feel almost privileged to own one.
