Gripping story. Makes one believe

Just finished the book Audrey Rose by Frank De Felitta, it's a 1975 print. I really enjoyed reading this. And couldn't put it down. I didn't know what to expect in the end, the ending wasn't what I would have liked to Happen, it was a sad ending. I haven't seen the movie but putting that on my list. Was a very good read and makes one believe it actually took place.

Do you believe in reincarnation?

After watching the movie Audrey Rose I wanted to read the book to fill in more detail. The relationships of the characters really draw you in as they take "sides" of the belief or disbelief in reincarnation. Great subject matter and the author's style of writing made it a good read.

I read this book when it was first released some thirty odd years ago, and I really enjoyed it at the time. In rereading it, I find that I enjoyed it less the second time around.
The story line is fairly simple. Elliot Hoover is a distraught man who lost his wife and five year old daughter, Audrey Rose, years ago in a car accident in Pennsylvania, where they lived at the time. The car went up in a ball of flames with his little girl trying unsuccessfully to get out. He now firmly believes that his daughter has been reborn in the body of another little girl, Ivy Templeton, who lives with her parents in New York. He also believes that his daughter was reincarnated too soon and now lives in torment in Ivy's body.
The book details Elliot Hoover's efforts to help his daughter, and the Templeton's efforts to help theirs. Some parts of the book are interesting, while other parts drag on at times. I was not sorry when the book ended. Still, those who enjoy books with supernatural portents or who are interested in the topic of reincarnation will derive some enjoyment from this book.
